| Dunbartonshire Tartan |
|
The official tartan for anyone who claims Dunbartonshire descent or visits the county. Commissioned by a group of local businessmen the Dunbartonshire tartan was launched and displayed at the Dumbarton Gala Day in 1999. From Lochlomondside and the Kilpatrick Hills to the towns and villages of the Clyde coast, the ancient County of Dunbartonshire can boast of some of Scotland’s most scenic countryside, and what is arguably the most famous stretch of fresh water in the world – Loch Lomond, and its ‘bonnie, bonnie banks’.
The colours of the Dunbartonshire tartan have been chosen to symbolise the leading role which the County has played in shaping the history of Scotland, and have been woven together to produce a unique and distinctive design. Associated Links |
